WATCH | Inside Dubai’s 18km bridge & tunnel mega project by RTA
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed all phases of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development Project on the Bur Dubai side, marking a major milestone in one of Dubai’s largest-ever infrastructure upgrades.
With the inauguration of the fifth and final bridge at the Sheikh Rashid Road–Al Mina Street intersection, traffic now flows seamlessly from Al Garhoud Bridge to Infinity Bridge and onwards to key hubs like Port Rashid and Waterfront Market.
Spanning 18 km of bridges and tunnels, the Dh5.3 billion mega project includes the development of 15 intersections, drastically improving mobility for over one million residents. Travel time along the corridor has been cut from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes, and capacity has soared from 6,400 to 24,000 vehicles per hour.
RTA also revealed updates on related works: the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel is 30% complete, while access bridges to Dubai Islands from both Deira and Bur Dubai sides are under development.
The completed infrastructure features standout elements like the iconic Infinity Bridge, Falcon Intersection, and double-deck routes, all designed to ensure smoother, safer, and faster commutes across the city.
